Garda warning on smishing texts

An Garda have issued a new warning about fraudulent text messages currently in circulation, notably the one purporting to be from Revenue above. These are known as smishing scams—where criminals attempt to trick you into revealing personal or financial information.

Never click on links in unsolicited texts. Never share personal data such as PINs, passwords, or one-time passcodes.

Your bank will never ask you to return your card or provide sensitive information via text.

If you receive a suspicious message:

1. Do not engage.

2. Take a screenshot for your records.

3. Report it via the Garda website or directly to your local station.
