Fairy Trail Family Fun today

The weather is set fine and the Kilcullen Fairy Trail Family Fun Day gets underway today from 12 noon, writes Brian Byrne. Kilcullen Community Action has been working hard through recent weeks to make sure there's going to be a really great experience for all.

The attractions include magician Billy Bubbles, a Sprinkles and Biscuits Decorating session with Mrs Bubbles, free face painting, storytelling, music by local musicians and DJ, and ice cream for the children.

Children's Fairy Fancy Dress is optional, with prizes for the top three.

The day will finish with the return of the very popular Kilcullen Lions Duck Race, taking to the water at 4pm. Funds from the race will go to St John's Oncology Ward in Crumlin Hospital and to local charities in the Kilcullen area. Duck racing positions are on sale this morning at Eurospar and through the Valley event until just before the off. Each duck sponsorship costs €5. The prizes are €100, €50 and a Woodbine Books voucher. 

The day is a KCA initiative with support from Kildare County Council and Kildare Credit Union.
