Big support for dartsman Jack

A final phoned-in bid of €1,500 for a signed Liverpool jersey was the crowning point in last evening's very successful support night in The Spout for young dartsman Jack Courtney, writes Brian Byrne. A large crowd of friends and family all showed they're behind his packed tour schedule for the rest of this year.
In addition to weekend club competitions that take him around Ireland, Jack will be undertaking seven key tours in the UK, Europe, and South Korea this year. Even at his young age, there's a strong feeling that this quiet Kilcullen lad will go far if he continues in a game which he started playing at the age of five.
Just now there's also the matter of his Junior Cert exams upcoming, so it would be understandable if there were signs of stress last evening as he went around the tables thanking all those there to help push him along.
Jack doesn't do stress, though. He toured the room in the same way that he plays his darts. Quietly. Considered. Appreciative.
Our pictures show how much he himself is appreciated too.
