Women's Shed in Kilcullen is getting under way

A Women's Shed is being established in Kilcullen, following a meeting last night to form the group, writes Brian Byrne. More than 30 women attended the gathering in Kilcullen Community Centre.
At the meeting it was agreed that there's a vital need for such a group, particularly for women whose children are grown or who are living alone and need to expand their circle of friends. A follow-up meeting of a 'next steps' team took place this morning at The Coffee Hatch. These will include calling a general meeting of those who attended last night, to elect a committee.
"Anyone who was unable to attend last night will be most welcome at future meetings," says Sabina Reddy, one of those who initially sought expressions of interest last autumn for a Kilcullen Women's Shed. "If they wish to be added to our communications list they can do so by contacting 087 6807139."
Among the ideas put forward at last night's meeting were learning basic DIY and carpentry skills, gardening and biodiversity, yoga and art activities to maintain mental health, learning or reviving sewing skills, flower arranging and crafts, line-dancing, cookery demonstrations and cultural trips.
