Kildare's first Inclusivity Festival

An Inclusivity Festival Day on Sunday 11 May at the Curragh Racecourse will celebrate disability and the limitless potential of individuals of all abilities, writes Brian Byrne. The free event is hosted by Kildare County Council, CKAN (County Kildare Access Network), and Nua Healthcare.
Supported by the Kildare Sports Partnership, Barretstown and the Curragh Racecourse, the Festival will run from 11am to 4pm and will include a parade, a Family Fun Zone with bouncy castles and funfair games, a giant inflatable obstacle course, and an inclusive Sports Zone where participants can find out about blind tennis, inclusive pitch and putt, and kids football with the Kildare Allstars. Barretstown Magic Moments will include face-painting and bracelet making and more.
There's going to be live entertainment with music, magic and puppets and an opportunity to sing along with Sign and Sing. The Newbridge Gospel Choir and the Men's Shed Choir will perform. Para National Champion 2024, Heather Lemmon and her Connemara mare Freya will be giving a dressage demo, showcasing how dressage can be adapted and enjoyed by riders of all abilities.
An Artisan Food & Craft Market and a range of stands showcasing local services, supports and organisations will all help to make the first event of its kind in Kildare a truly unmissable day for people with disabilities and their families.
