KCA is looking for a home
A need for a permanent 'home' for Kilcullen Community Action was raised at the recent AGM by the chair, Ann Cashman, writes Brian Byrne. She told the meeting she is going to make it a personal point of focus in the future.
Highlighting the range of activities currently undertaken by the group, and the probability of that list expanding she said a permanent base is required. She suggested it could be a piece of land or other property, acquired through donation or purchase with the aid of a grant, and that having such a space would be 'a very transformative step' for the group.
"Whether it's a hub, an allotment, a space to store stuff, a meeting place, we need to put it out there publicly to see what options are available," she added. "A wealth of different things go on in Kilcullen, and as things change and progress, we're going to have new members, people focusing on energy, on implementing the design principles and so much more." She appealed to all present that if they knew of a potential suitable property, to reach out.
KCA was founded on 9 May 2021, but has no central office. Meetings are generally held in the Kilcullen Heritage Centre, while equipment and other assets are stored in members' homes, or other places through the generosity of Kilcullen residents.
