Ballyshannon NS needs play area upgrade
Ballyshannon National School have started a fundraising campaign to make their outdoor play area useable all year round, writes Brian Byrne. The Parents Council is supporting the acquisition of an Astro Turf area and a tarmac basketball court.
The target is €80,000 which is the cost of 400sm metres of each surface on the existing grass area which becomes muddy and unusable in wet weather.
The upgrade will provide a safer, more durable and low maintenance surface for play and physical activities, enhancing children’s daily experience. A better facility will also promote physical well-being, and create a more inclusive environment where they can stay active no matter the weather.
A GoFundMe page has been set up here. People are being asked to donate what they can, or sponsor a square metre for €125. Any business which donates over €500 will have their business name engraved and added to a plaque which will be displayed in Ballyshannon Hall for years to come.
