Exhibition will explore female beauty myths

An exhibition opening on 15 February in Riverbank Arts Centre will explore attitudes to female beauty and femininity, writes Brian Byrne. Beauty Myths by artist in residence Olga Anacka will feature artworks on the theme based on two Open Studio events at the centre where she conversed with invited guests and other visitors. A tapestry devised as a result of these conversations will feature among other pieces.
The exhibition in the McKenna Gallery will run until Saturday 19 April during normal opening hours. Admission is free, and all are welcome to the official opening on 15 February at 6pm.
The Newbridge based mixed media visual artist's approach to art includes recycling and up-cycling old materials in order to reduce waste in the production of her prints, paintings, tapestries, and sculptural objects. Originally from Poland, Olga is a member of Visual Artists Ireland as well as Kildare Arts Collective. She was awarded a Tyrone Guthrie Residency 2023 and an Arts Act Grant 2024 from Kildare County Council.
