Orange weather warning for Kildare tonight

A Severe Weather Alert from Met Eireann includes Kildare in 13 counties affected, writes Brian Byrne. The Orange/Low Temperature/Ice alert from Met Eireann is valid from 7pm this evening (09/01/25) forecasting extreme cold with widespread severe frost and ice, along with lying snow in some areas. Patches of freezing fog also.

The impacts of the weather may include dangerous travelling conditions on roads and underfoot, travel disruption and delays, animal welfare issues, and poor visibility.

The other affected counties are Carlow, Kilkenny, Laois, Longford, Meath, Offaly, Westmeath, Cavan, Monaghan, Galway, Roscommon, and Tipperary.
