Boobie bear Deacon visits Kilcullen
Deacon is a boobie bear who, with other bears, is traveling the world promoting the awareness of the signs of breast cancer, writes Sabina Reddy. This was an idea from a lady in England who has sent these little bears out into the world with a little tag explaining their mission. They can be found randomly or passed on from people to people.
Deacon arrived in a few weeks ago to Kilcullen from Portugal via Josephine Byrne, who passed him onto Mary Byrne and then to me. He has met Kilcullen Gospel Choir, had a dental check in Naas, and on the final night of Calendar Girls he was introduced to the audience by Nessa Dunlea. Nessa placed him on the edge of the stage where he had a full view of the performance.
Deacon was also at the Kilcullen Photography Club stand at the Christmas Market to greet anyone who would like to meet him. This week he will be heading off on his travels to who knows where, but out to spread the message of the awareness of the signs of breast cancer.
