Spout gathering wishes Jack well in Junior World Darts
There was a pleasant gathering of family and friends this evening in The Spout for Jack Courtney, prior to his heading for his third World Junior Darts Championship in Gibraltar, writes Brian Byrne. Jack and his parents Derek and Marian will be travelling with him on Sunday.
The event will last a week and will include singles competition as well as the Team Ireland event from which the team brought home a silver medal last year in their first ever World Cup Final.
Jack, 15, is a Third Year student at CPC and a member of Carlow Darts Club. His Irish team mates in the world competition are Aidan O'Hara, Shay Feeney and Jayden Fitzgerald.
In March Jack took gold in the All Ireland Darts Tournament in Galway after winning in the Pairs event and the Team event and also reached the final in the Boys section.
He was also presented with an Excellence in Sports accolade at this year's Kilcullen Community Awards organised by Kilcullen Community Action.
