Solothon completes 928km
Betty Lambe completes the symbolic final lap of the Solothon. |
At the close of today's Kilcullen GAA Solothon fundraiser, 928km of solos were completed by a total of 404 participants, writes Brian Byrne. All team age groups took part, as did many club supporters and former club members, some of whom did their contributions in different parts of the world.
A final lap of honour was carried out by Betty and Michael Lambe to conclude the day, Betty demonstrating she is proficient at soloing with a hurl.
At the time of writing, €52,600 has been registered on the club's website, and climbing, to help fund the completion of the car parks at the clubhouse. It's understood that a number of sponsorship cards are yet to be tallied, so it looks likely that the target of €60,000 will be achieved.
A huge credit to all concerned. More of the Diary's photographs are below. All the photos of the day are available here.
