Parking restrictions for abnormal load CANCELLED

UPDATE 22 OCTOBER: This convoy is no longer going ahead. It has been put back to next month and an alternative route is being considered.
PREVIOUSLY, 21 OCTOBER: Parking is to be restricted on Kilcullen's main street from tomorrow night until the early hours of Thursday morning, to facilitate passage of an abnormally large load, writes Brian Byrne.
The extremely large load will be travelling from Waterford to Naas, and afterwards to Newbridge, and is expected in Kilcullen at some time between 10pm Wednesday and 2am Thursday morning, with a Garda escort.
Kildare County Council will be placing cones on the main street from the traffic lights as far as the Centra on Hillcrest, and motorists who normally park on the street are asked not to do so while the cones are in place.
The Diary understands the load is so large that it can't go under motorway bridges and therefore has to take a roundabout route on regional roads.
The Garda escort will be managing traffic as the convoy proceeds.
