Nature renews the riverscape

October 2024.

Showing how nature will constantly work to change the landscape, growth on the remains of a fallen tree is doing so on the Liffey at the back of the Town Hall, writes Brian Byrne.
August 2023.

The tree came down at the end of August 2023, during a period of constant high floods while work was being carried out on the Gold Falls dam turbines.
November 2023.

In November 2023, much of the tree was cleared, with just some left.
Now a whole new treescape is forming, changing the view and also firming up what has probably become a whole new habitat for the life in and around the river.
