Born to Strum Music Academy: A new chapter

After nearly a decade of teaching guitar at Kilcullen Community Centre, local musician and teacher Steve Hulgraine has officially launched his own music school, Born to Strum Music Academy. The academy is located in the picturesque Crookstown Craft Village, just a short 15-minute drive from Kilcullen.

A former Kilcullen resident and currently living in Moone, Steve would like to extend his heartfelt gratitude to Enda, Mark, and all the staff at Kilcullen Community Centre for their unwavering support over the years. "The Community Centre provided a welcoming and nurturing environment, where I had the privilege of teaching many local students. I have seen the centre go through many changes, from PJ to Claire and now Enda in charge, I have to say that the local community is in safe hands with people like Enda O'Neill involved! I would really like to thank everyone who contributed to this chapter of my teaching career, the Carter Room and the centre in general have served me beyond expectation," he says. 

One of the most rewarding aspects of this transition is that almost all of Steve’s students from Kilcullen have chosen to continue their musical journey with him at the new premises. Their loyalty and dedication are a testament to the strong bond forged through their shared passion for music. "When the premises became available in Crookstown I was a little worried that my students might not follow me, so I was delighted when pretty much all of them decided to join me on this new journey. I've taught so many students from the area over the past decade, there's bound to be a rockstar from Kilcullen popping up soon, mark my words!"

Born to Strum Music Academy offers lessons in a variety of instruments, including guitar, bass, ukulele, piano, and violin. The academy is dedicated to providing high-quality music education in a fun and supportive environment. Whether students are picking up an instrument for the first time or seeking to refine their skills, Born to Strum offers a welcoming space for all.

Steve looks forward to welcoming both new and returning students to the academy’s new home in Crookstown, where they can continue to develop their musical abilities and master the art of music.
