Steam Museum worth a visit during Heritage Week


For those interested in the industrial heritage of Ireland, a visit to the Steam Museum in Straffan is one of the good ideas for a family outing during National Heritage Week, writes Brian Byrne.
The week gets under way tomorrow, and the Steam Museum & Lodge Park Walled Garden is open each afternoon from 1pm-5pm, with an amazing collection of model locomotives and working stationary engines. Steam is up on Sundays, showing a number of the exhibits in action.
The museum is housed in a Victorian Gothic building, and the attraction also offers visits to the attached 18th century walled garden with interesting flora consists of several flower areas and long walks.
Children are free. Adults museum entry is €15 on Sundays, €10 other days. Museum and Gardens entry on Sundays €20 and other days €15, while Gardens only entry is €7.
