Rural roads speed limit consultation

The L6078 between Whitehall and Old Kilcullen, speed limit will drop to 60km/h.

A public consultation on the upcoming changes to speed limits on Rural Local Roads in Kildare is now open, with submissions possible until 20 September, writes Brian Byrne. The default speed limit on these roads is to be lowered to 60km/h from the end of November.
The changes are part of a national review of speed limits which will see changes to all other roads in 2025.
Submissions or observations relating to the above-mentioned speed limit review can be made online or in writing to the: A/Senior Executive Officer, Transport, Mobility and Open Spaces Department, Kildare County Council, Áras Chill Dara, Devoy Park, Naas, Co Kildare on or before 5pm on Friday 20 September 2024. Please make your submission by one medium only — in hard copy or online.
The changes arise from recent legislation, the Road Traffic Act 2024, which provides for the phased lowering of all default speed limits in Ireland.
