Mark Wall selected as Labour candidate for Kildare South

Senator Mark Wall has been selected to contest the next general election in Kildare South for the Labour Party. He was nominated by Cllrs Aoife Breslin and Mark Leigh at a party meeting chaired by former TD Willie Penrose.
Thanking all who attended the meeting to offer their support, he said he looked forward to talking and meeting with the as the country moved moves towards the forthcoming general election, whenever that might be called.
"In the meantime I will continue to work hard for you, your family and your community," he posted on his Facebook page. "We have many issues facing us here in Kildare South and I will use my voice as always to highlight them and work with you all on solutions."
Elected to the Seanad in 2020 he is the Labour Party Spokesperson on Defence, Tourism and Sport and is a member of the Committee on Social Protection, Community and Rural Development and the Islands and the Seanad Public Consultation Committee. He was first elected to Kildare County Council at the 2009 Kildare County Council election and to Athy Town Council at the same time. He was an unsuccessful candidate for Kildare South at the 2016 and 2020 general elections.
His father, Jack Wall, was a Senator from 1993 to 1997 and TD from 1997 to 2016.
