Sunnyhill Road blocked by broken down truck

A major blockage of the Sunnyhill Road occurred this morning when a truck tyre blew and left the vehicle stuck at one of the narrower parts of the road, writes Brian Byrne.

The incident happened at 11am, but the road wasn't cleared until 1.45pm. Amid the ensuing chaos, other trucks were seen doing U-turns at the ESB and at the entrance to Mullins yard. One of Mullins own horseboxes also got stuck in the mix.

The levels of heavy goods vehicles using the road, and speed on the road generally, have been long-time contentious issues for local residents.
