An Tearmann may be reopened this summer
The An Tearmann cafe in Kilcullen could be reopened this summer, writes Brian Byrne. In a statement to KFM Radio's Kildare Today programme, Camphill Communities of Ireland say they are 'optimistic' about a summer reopening of a facility closed since the beginning of the pandemic.
A spokesperson for CCI told Eoin Beatty that the organisation is currently in the 'final stages of completing arrangements' to reopen An Tearmann. They said delays in getting the cafe back have been caused by the stringent fire regulations required and updated data systems, renovations and maintenance works.
A local petition set up late last year garnered more than 1,100 signatures in support of a request to have the cafe back as an important link between the service users of the Bridge Camphill and the general Kilcullen community.
