Brigid 1500 Film Season in Kilcullen

The Kilcullen Bridge Cinema Brigid 1500 Film Season begins next Tuesday 30 January with an opening event at 7.30pm in Kilcullen Town Hall and Heritage Centre, writes Teresa Nurse. Refreshments will be served on the night and Cllr Tracey O’Dwyer will speak.
Supported by Kildare County Council, and in association with Access Cinema, a range of films with themes of empowerment, social justice, spirituality, equality and inclusion will be screened. The titles include award winning and acclaimed Irish and international titles. While less well known, these films are guaranteed to stimulate and inspire.
The opening film on January 30th is Herself. Directed by Phyllida Lloyd (Mamma Mia!) it is the story of a Dublin cleaner trying to make a new life. Starring Clare Dunne, it is a story of female empowerment and community. A compelling drama, it is impactful and uplifting. Like all the titles in the film season, it is very relevant to the issues we experience in society today and it will make you think long after the movie has finished. Rated four stars in the Irish Times, Donald Clarke described it as an “irresistible drama … it hits the emotional beats with gusto throughout."
All tickets for the Brigid 1500 film season are €5 and tickets for the Family Cinema Day are €4. Available in Woodbine Books and on Eventbrite.
