Swinging into Christmas at the CPC seniors party

Christmas really got swinging for Kilcullen seniors and grandparents of students at Cross and Passion College this morning, writes Brian Byrne. It was the annual Christmas Party organised for them by the Religious Education class and Sixth Year students.
The school's Assembly Hall had been festively decorated for the 85 or so guests, and the students were appropriately dressed up in a wonderful variety of Christmas jumpers and Elf suits. "We're delighted to have the support of Georga Dowling of Food School who provided all the decorations," says CPC's Glenda Groome. "Fallons helped out with a loan of cups, and the Elf costumes were supplied by Kildare Farm Foods. It's a real community input."
In all, some 100 students were involved in welcoming and making sure all the guests were happy, as well as assembling decorations, putting together gift packages courtesy of Whelan's Pharmacy in Kildare which Santa handed out.
In all, there were 10,000 fairy lights strung around the hall for the event. "And we have guests from long distances, with some grandparents having driven from Westmeath, Meath, Carlow, and all over Kildare, for instance."
The guests were also entertained by musicians and singers from Sixth Year.
