Inaugural Kildare Jazz Festival

Jazz fans in County Kildare will have a chance to hear their favourite music live next month at the inaugural Kildare Jazz Festival, writes Brian Byrne. The event will be hosted at the Riverbank Arts Centre in Newbridge from 10-12 November, under the direction of singer and composer Kasia Eliasz.
Performing on the Friday will be Peruvian guitarist Rodrigo Almonte and Brazilian percussionist Rogerio Boccato, as well as Brazilian guitarist Gustavo de Morais, and vocalist Lauren Kinsella.
Saturday will feature Irish composer Bianca Gannon, the Irish jazz collective RBG Trio, and an ensemble performance by Rodrigo Almonte and Rogerio Boccato with Lorenzo Vitolo on piano, Rafael Abdala on double bass, Roberto Pistolesi on drums, and Daniel Juárez on tenor saxophone.
The Sunday performances will include jazz and bossa nova duo LR Project, and Irish/Dutch songwriter Patrick Stefan with Moroccan artist Aziz Ozouss.
Workshops will be hosted in Newbridge Town Hall over the course of the festival. On the Saturday, Kasia Eliasz's Ta Tum Tum! bring an exciting samba workshop for children and their adults. On the Sunday, Alessandra Azevedo from Salvador offers an introduction to Afro-Brazilian dance for adults.
Tickets are priced €10 per music event, €15 for a day ticket or €40 for full weekend ticket. Workshops are priced at €5 per ticket.
