Speed measures for Brannockstown 'fantastic news'

Speed feedback signs are to be installed at Brannockstown on the main road to Dunlavin in coming weeks, thanks to funding allocated from Local Property Tax, writes Brian Byrne.
This was agreed at the recent meeting of the Kildare-Newbridge Municipal District, and welcomed as 'fantastic news' by Cllr Tracey O'Dwyer, who had provided the funds from her LPT allocation.
Recalling a serious injury incident in the area last year involving a pedestrian, she said it is a straight stretch of road where motorists 'fly along it', careless to the fact they are coming into a pedestrian area with many entrances to homes and housing estates.
"I had been hoping to secure traffic calming measures, similar to the flashing lights secured for Athgarvan, for this stretch of road to alert drivers to slow down and hopefully prevent any further accidents happening within the village. This is really good news for Brannockstown."
