New students and strong results at CPC

1st year students being addressed by year head Mr Mann in the school Assembly Hall.

On Thursday we welcomed the newest CPC students through the doors of our school, writes CPC Principal Joe Leonard. They looked terrific in their uniforms and we had our 5th year prefects on hand to answer questions and show them around. They engaged in a morning of induction activities with their class teachers and year head, Mr Mann. It was lovely to see them leave on Thursday with smiles on their faces and ready for the adventures ahead.
On Friday, our Leaving Certificate students of 2023 received their results via the Candidate Self Service Portal, the new system for accessing results online. Soon there were messages arriving to teachers from students of fantastic results and some couldn't resist dropping in to share their joy and say 'thank you'. As we began to analyse results it became clear that results were excellent with many students receiving outstanding results in multiple subjects.

Special mention must go to Ben Cahill who received an astonishing EIGHT H1 grades in Higher Level papers. This is a truly remarkable achievement and a credit to Ben, his family and all the teachers in CPC who taught him throughout his six years in the school. Our Leaving Certificate Applied students also celebrated tremendous results receiving the highest possible grade of Distinction.
We wish all of our students well as they await 3rd level offers or embark on the next stage of their journey in whatever direction that may be. It was lovely to catch up with Ben to congratulate him and ask him what the secret to his success was — hard work and lots of it!
