Celebrate The Last Lifeboat with Hazel Gaynor, Woodbine Books on Saturday

A Kilcullen celebration of local author Hazel Gaynor's latest book, The Last Lifeboat, will take place in Woodbine Books next Saturday 10 June, writes Brian Byrne.
Starting at 3.30pm, Hazel will be there to talk about the book and sign copies of her story about a group of child evacuees from London's Blitz stranded in the Atlantic after their ship was torpedoed. The book goes on sale on Thursday next, 8 June.
As with all of New York Times best selling author Hazel's books, the inspiration is based on a true story, this time from WW2. Her previous best selling novels have included The Girl Who Came Home and The Lighthouse-Keeper's Daughter, among many others.
This is Hazel's first live publicity tour since 2018, as Covid put the kybosh on such activities for her last book The Bird in the Bamboo Cage, published during lockdown.
Her bookshop launch events are always fun. We've missed them too.
Free registration for the Woodbine event is available here. Everybody welcome.
