Free family fun event next weekend
A free family festival at the Curragh Racecourse next Sunday afternoon, 21 May, will celebrate St Brigid in a healthy and fun way.
Lá Sláinte Bhríde will run from 1pm and activities will include a Family Play Village for the youngsters with puppet and magic shows, disco dome and bouncy obstacle courses, and an arts and crafts workshop.
A guided heritage walk will include stories about Ballymany Stud, the Military Cemetery, Donnelly’s Hollow, the Curragh Camp Water Tower, Gibbets Rath and Herbert Lodge, narrated by local historian Reggie Darling. Mario Corrigan, will deliver a presentation ‘The St Brigid Story’, speaking about the life and times of St Brigid and her association with County Kildare.
A toddler’s pedal parade will mark the end of Bike Week, complete with traffic lights and Garda patrol!
The Defence Forces will have recruitment unit and provide the opportunity to look inside a Mowag Personnel Carrier, while the Irish Military Vehicle Club will have some unique military vehicles from around the world on display.
Other events include Activator and Nordic pole walking demonstrations, a seated exercise class and social games such as Indoor Bowls, Boccia, Scooch, and Cornhole. A free live music show starts at 3:30pm.
