A conference in Solas Bhride, Kildare next week will discuss aspects of St Brigid's legacy, writes Brian Byrne.
Under the sub-title 'Woman of Mystery, Woman of Inspiration', the event on Saturday 22 April will feature historian Dr Niamh Wycherley from Maynooth University and writer and educator Dr Niamh Brennan.
Dr Wycherley's talk, 'Boss Brigid: the lasting legacy of the founder of Kildare', will focus on the real ‘flesh and blood’ woman behind the pagan goddess and the Christian saint. Dr Brennan, in ‘The Wild and the Sacred. Listening to the voices of Earth’, will discuss how getting in touch with the natural wonder that surrounds the story of Brigid might help guide the planet through an ecologically perilous time.
The event will run from 10.30am to 4pm and the €25 cost includes a light lunch. Booking available here.
