Exhibition from county's Municipal Art Collection

An exhibition of works from Kildare County Council's Municipal Art Collection will open in the McKenna Gallery at Riverbank Arts Centre on Friday 21 April. Curated by Paula Barrett from the Council's Arts Services team, 'Finding Form – Selected Works from Kildare’s Municipal Art Collection' will be officially opened by Cathaoirleach of Kildare County Council, Cllr Fintan Brett at 6:30pm on the day.
The collection was established in the 1970s and is normally displayed in public buildings across the county. Included in this selection of work are artworks by Niamh O’Malley, Isabel Nolan, Gillian Lawler, Shane Hynan, Emma Stroude, John Minihan, Seán Cotter, Rebecca Peart, John Behan, James Nolan, Derek A Fitzsimons and Dominic Turner.
As part of this exhibition Kildare County Council Arts Service will also host a Panel Discussion on Thursday 11 May at 7pm in Riverbank Arts Centre, which will be chaired by Irish author, broadcaster and art critic Cristín Leach. Panelists will include artists Emma Stroude, Sarah Browne, Seán Cotter and Lucina Russell. A workshop exploring the theme of ‘Finding Form’ will take place on Thursday 25th May at 7pm, more details will be available on www.riverbank.ie
The exhibition runs in the McKenna Gallery until Saturday 27th May. Admission free.
