Dennis Hogan defending his world title in May in Dublin

Kilcullen-raised and former Cross & Passion student Dennis 'Hurricane' Hogan will fight in Ireland for the first time in his professional career when he defends his IBO Super-Welterweight World Title against James Metcalf on Saturday 20 May in the 3Arena in Dublin, writes Brian Byrne.
The bout will be on the same card as Katie Taylor’s much-anticipated homecoming undisputed championship fight with Chantelle Cameron.
Metcalf is Liverpool-born and a former Commonwealth and WBC International Super-Welterweight Champion. With 24 professional fights and only 2 losses, he's the son of the famous Liverpool fighter Shea ‘Shamrock Express’ Neary.
Dennis Hogan won his title on 8 October 2022 when he beat Englishman Sam Eggington in a decision win at the Newcastle Entertainment Centre, Newcastle, Australia. The 37-year-old has fought a total of 36 bouts in his professional career, losing only four.
As an amateur in Ireland before emigrating to Australia he competed in over 150 fights and was an All Ireland Light Heavyweight Champion. He made his professional debut in 2011.
Dennis currently lives in Queensland, Australia. He was home in Kilcullen last November, where a celebration was held for him in The Spout
