Clearing under way for 'Field of Dreams'
Clearance work has been started on the land behind Avondale where Kilcullen GAA will be building new pitch and training facilities, writes Brian Byrne.
The 'Field of Dreams' project was granted planning permission at the end of January.
The plans made public last September show a second full-size pitch and two Juvenile training pitches, as well as a skills arena and new car parking facilities. A public walk and cycle way around the campus is also part of the development.
Costed at just under a million euro, the development is on land acquired from Kildare County Council under a land swap arrangement which will eventually see the completion of the link road between Knockbounce and the Newbridge Road.
The club has been running a range of fundraising schemes, and is being supported by other community groups in the programme.
