Step out for fitness with Kilcullen GAA

A reminder that two regular new year fitness events kick off this week to help put a spring in your step for 2023, writes Liam Cronin of Kilcullen GAA.
Kilcullen GAA Lights Up 2023 walk starts up tonight, Monday 9 January, from 8pm to 9pm for 6 weeks until 13 February 2023.
Registration for this Operation Transformation regular will start at 7.50pm, warmup at 7.55pm and the walk starts at 8pm sharp from the training pitch across from the Astro pitch.
Free Ballygowan water will be served during the walk sponsored by Britvic Ireland. Please make sure to have your walking gear with bright hi-viz clothing at all times when walking — if you don’t have hi-viz, Kilcullen GAA will provide on the night. All are welcome to come to this event, you don’t have to be a Kilcullen GAA club member and we are hoping to have over 50 walkers each Monday.
The Irish Life 'Steps Challenge' 2023,  through their MyLife health app will also be kicking off this week, on Wednesday 11 January. The Every Step Counts Challenge is a virtual challenge ideal for Kilcullen GAA, its members and the wider community to get involved with.
In each province there are three O’Neills vouchers up for grabs, worth €2,500, €1,500 and €1,000. Any club that tracks more than 4,000km during the challenge will be entered into the prize draw in their province.
Last year Kilcullen GAA and the community completed the My Life Challenge in 4th place in Leinster with 35,938.5km (almost nine laps of Ireland) in five weeks, which was amazing. Finishing 4th for the second year in a row from over 200 clubs competing in Leinster and being the Number 1 walking club in Kildare was brilliant last year and we are hoping to finish once again in the top five in Leinster this year.
