Great turnout for postponed 'Run, Run, Rudolph!'
With upwards of 426 entrants for today's 'Run, Run, Rudolph!' event organised by Kilcullen GAA, it can only be described as a runaway success, writes Brian Byrne.
Postponed from last Sunday because of extreme weather, the amount of interest didn't suffer, as during the extra week an extra 100 or so people signed up, the club's Development Committee chairman Martin Murphy told the Diary this morning.
The 5K Walk-Run was well stewarded by club members with the help of the Garda, with the first of the serious runners expected back around 22 minutes after the 11am-ish start.
As the pictures show, it was very much a family morning out, with everybody celebrating not going slip sliding away as has been the case on roads and footpaths over the last week.
The Run was started by Kilcullen's Late Late Show celebrity Junior Garda, 7-year-old Billy Brady, who had deputised Santa Claus to help him for the occasion.
The event was part of a series of fundraisers for the provision of new pitches at the club.
