Faerly wins Irish Small Online Retailer of The Year

Kilcullen-based online shop for sustainable living, Faerly, has won an award for ‘Small Online Retailer of the Year’ at the annual AIB Merchant Services Retail Excellence Awards. Hosted by Hector Ó hEochagáin, the awards ceremony was held in the Galmont Hotel, Galway, on Saturday, celebrating outstanding examples of retail businesses across the country.
Retail Excellence is Ireland’s largest retail representative body and their annual awards were established in 1997 to promote best practice and encourage high standards in the Irish retail industry. They are now the largest and most prestigious awards of their kind in Ireland.
James Byrne, founder of Faerly, said the award is really special award for them. “We truly believe that small is beautiful. Our dream is to stay small (and mighty!) while growing our impact as a sustainable business. Faerly is a work in progress, and it feels really good to have experts look under the hood and decide we should win this award.”
The award is sponsored by .IE, the national registry for .ie domain names, and the other finalists in the category were Wild Atlantic Living, Pharmacy Store, Wardrobe Plus, Whelehans Wine.
Couple James Byrne and Eoin Houlihan set up Faerly in 2020, a lockdown project to realise a long held dream to set up an online store for eco friendly and sustainable products. Their business promotes a network of small Irish makers and eco-conscious brands and encourages consumers to be more conscious of the need to reduce unnecessary chemicals and plastics in their lives and invest in sustainably-produced gifts, household and skincare products.
Faerly uses 100% plastic-free packaging in all their deliveries and plant a tree for every order placed. The company is a member of 1pc For the Planet and donates 1pc of sales to environmental projects around the world.
