Tapley wins on first outing

Following on from our story about Arthur Tapley yesterday, Ray Nolan got in touch to tell us that a horse named Tapley came in first at Fontwell Park on Saturday, on his first outing.
Trained by Suzy Smith and with jockey Charlie Hammond on board, the grey gelding won through at 11/1, having pushed along from two furlongs out, 'kept on gamely, always doing enough'.
The 5-year-old is owned by The Plumpton Party syndicate, with the breeders listed as Stephen Kemble Bloodstock Ltd & G Peck.
No tall story here. One to watch, maybe? Ray recalled that his late father always told great stories about Arthur Tapley. "He must have been some character!"
