Paula is swimming Coldtober for mental health

Paula Kavanagh, one of the always welcoming faces in Woodbine Books, has been doing a daily swim at Carnalway for the month of October, to raise funds for mental health support, writes Brian Byrne.
She's doing a Reels mini-video each day on her Facebook page here. Up to today she has raised €1,750 towards a €2,000 target. The Coldtober initiative is a 31-day Challenge for Helplink Mental Health. You can support Paula's fundraiser here without yourself getting wet and cold
Paula says a group 9am sea-swim in February of this year off Spanish Point got her interested because it was a turning point for her own mental health, 'which had taken a beating after a challenging few years'. "The exhilaration and pure adrenaline of that cold water swim with a group of people exhibiting unbridled joy changed something in me," she says, "and I was so grateful for the experience of being part of something bigger than myself."
