Lots of subjects choice for Climate Action Weekend


With the Climate Action Weekend 2022 now well underway, there are lots of events over the next two days which will be of interest in this vital area, writes Brian Byrne.
For those interested in how climate change can affect birds, a talk in Naas Library this morning will prelude a walk along the Corbally Line from Naas Harbour, in the company of Lorraine Benson and Neil J Bourke, Birdwatch Ireland (Kildare Branch). The event begins at 10am.
Also from 10am, a Climate Cafe hosted by Unpacked in Kildare town will give opportunity for people to discuss the Circular Economy, in association with the Circular Economy Club of Kildare.
A Zoom-hosted workshop from 11am will will look at the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), with a particular focus on SDG 13: Climate Action. The discussion will show how small actions can potentially have an impact globally.
A Ladies Clothing Swap event in Maynooth Library offers the opportunity to upgrade your wardrobe in a sustainable way, from 2pm-4pm.
The Farm Walk around McCalls farm in Calverstown in the featured local event for today, visiting a farm that focuses on environmentally friendly farming practices (pre-registration essential). Starting at 3pm.
From 4pm this afternoon, SEAI Community Energy Mentor for Kildare Emer Conway will host a walking tour in Kilcock to talk about community energy. Topics will include energy demand and supply, the path ahead and how to achieve community energy goals in a way that benefits all energy users in the community. Start and finish at the Canal Bank Walk in Kilcock.
