A programme of drugs awareness meetings for sports clubs and other groups is being organised over coming months by Kilcullen Gardai, writes Brian Byrne.
At the recent meeting of Kilcullen Community Action, Sergeant Tom O'Donoghue said they will speaking 'team by team' in the sports clubs, about drugs that are a problem in every community in the country. "It's in every town, in all sectors and professions," he said, adding that cocaine is currently the dominant drug issue.
Following an observation that drugs are available in communities like Kilcullen everywhere, even if not openly on sale, Ray Kelly commented 'they're only a question away'. "Posts on social media regularly show the great side of a community, but they don't show the dark side," he noted.
Sergeant O'Donoghue said that any group which wanted a talk on drugs can arrange it by contacting any local garda or the Garda station.
