Details of the conservation plan for the Tower House at Moone Abbey will be shown to the public this morning as part of National Heritage Week 2022, writes Brian Byrne.
Hosted by Moone Abbey owner Jenifer Matuschka, the event will include a presentation by representatives from the team of consultants — archaeologist, conservation architect, and ecologist — describing their findings.
The Tower House was built in the 15th century as one of a series of fortified towers erected with the help of a £10 subsidy from the government of the day, as part of defences against 'Irish marauders' ... in this area, the O'Toole clan.
The presentation is open from 11am.
