James is heading for his 31st transplant games
Kilcullen's James Nolan will be competing in four athletics events at the upcoming Transplant and Dialysis European Sports Championships which take place in Oxford, England, between 21-28 August.
Running in the 400m, 200m, 1500m and 4x100m Relay, this will be his 31st transplant games, having first competed in the European Games in Hungary 2002.
James received a life-saving kidney transplant from his sister Catherine Doyle in July 1987.
The Irish team for the games met last Sunday in Kilcullen Community Centre for a briefing by their captain Harry Ward, and an inspirational talk by Irish boxing Olympic champion Michael Carruth.
