Looking Back: John Nixon, blacksmith
This is a photograph John Nixon, born 1895, the youngest son of the Nixons of Harristown. He was one of the blacksmiths in Kilcullen in the 1920s and 1930s.
He died young in 1938 and is buried in Carnalway. The Nixons were granted the right to be buried there by the LaTouche family, despite being Roman Catholic.
This photo, provided by his grandson Paal Janson, was taken around 1925.
