More detail on Treasure Town Festival
A 'Treasure Town Festival' on Saturday 7 May will provide opportunity and information on a local 'circular economy'.
"The event is intended to capture the idea that we have so many wonderful things around us that can be reused, repaired, or swapped, instead of buying new products," says Cliona Kelliher of Kilcullen Community 4 Climate Action, which is organising the festival.
Planned events and activities will include a bicycle repair clinic, a clothing repair stand incorporating a simple sewing techniques workshop, cookery demonstration on how to use leftovers will include talk on how to reduce food waste, and free plant/seed swap table. "There will also be an energy table with tips on how to reduce energy at home and a talk on home energy, and a biodiversity talk with Nuala Madigan."
The organisers are encouraging people to bring reusable cups and to minimise litter and waste on the day.
There will be a range of activities for children.
