Local gardai will participate in 'Go Purple Day' in Kilcullen tomorrow with a presentation of supports for people experiencing domestic violence.
Gda Jon Brien of Kilcullen and Gda Sean O'Mahoney from Athy will be at The Coffee Hatch at Kilcullen Community Centre at 12 noon.
Everyone is welcome to come along and get information or just to support the cause. Wearing something purple would be appreciated.
'Go Purple Day' was started by Gda Stacey Looby in 2020 when she was stationed at Navan, after a stark rise in domestic abuse cases were reported in lockdown. The idea since went nationwide in Garda stations around the country.
"We are encouraging people to wear purple or be creative with the colour purple while sharing the contact numbers for domestic violence services," Gda Looby says. Sew something, bake something purple, dye your hair, the more creative the better."
