Red Hot Music Club bringing Luka to Fallons

Marie Heavey, Ray Kelly, Mairead Carroll, Conor Mahony, and Noel Heavey, in Fallons last evening.

Last evening's launch of the upcoming concert by Luka Bloom in Fallons was a small but very entertaining affair, writes Brian Byrne.

The concert will give the Red Hot Music Club a second coming of its Second Coming, reviving memories not only of the original club that ran for five years in the former Red House, but also the sellout performance just two years ago in Fallons back room. That featured Frankie Lane and Paul Kelly in a gig that reprised their performances as the El Paso Band in the original club.

Last evening we were entertained by songs and music from Conor Mahony, Mairead Carroll, Noel Heavey and Ray Kelly, among others. The reminiscences by Red Hot Music Club founder Noel and friends were also a hoot. Some of them definitely not for public re-telling, which made the launch event even more special.

Luka Bloom will lead the latest revival of the club, on Thursday 24 March, with tickets strictly limited to 100 and already selling fast. There's a serendipity in the fact that the same Luka was the very first performer in the original club back in November 1998.

He was very good then, by all memory accounts. He's even better now. Tickets available at €20 from Fallons, or from the Kiosk, Newbridge. You can also text 087 2602640.
