Niamh's fundraiser for W12WR12 getting closer to goal

A fundraising effort to install heating in a Newbridge industrial premises used for many community activities has achieved two-thirds of its goal, but needs a final effort.

Organised by Massage Therapist and Reflexologist Niamh Traynor, the initiative has a goal of €2,000, with almost €1,400 raised so far through a GoFundMe page named 'To install heating in W12WR12'.

The W12WR12 is what they call the building, from its Eircode. It was formerly the Dancetones studio and Niamh uses part of the premises for her own massage-reflexology business, but most of the activities there are of a community nature.

These include being a base for 'Walkie Talkies', an outdoor, all weather walking group; 'Picking Up The Pieces', a jigsaw puzzle social group; 'Messy Morning Choir', a community choir for all levels, all ages; Upcycling Workshops; a Saturday morning Table Quiz; a Pop-Up Swap Shop & Auction, also on Saturdays; and 'Casual Chats & Cosy Conversations' where people can come together, connect and communicate after COVID and swap stories, personal experiences, life lessons, the weather and everything in between.

"The building is almost too cold to use, but with a little more help we could buy a gas wall-mounted heater to get us through the winter," says Niamh. "This would be bringing warmth and hope to people who use the facility every week for charity work and social events. We have made so much progress from people's generosity and kindness, we just need to go a little further.
