Texaco Children's Art 2022 entries now sought
The search to find the young artists who will excel in this year’s Texaco Children’s Art Competition has begun. Last year four students from Co Kildare won prizes in the Competition which is now in its 68th year and widely acknowledged as the longest running arts sponsorship in Ireland.
In the 66th Texaco Children's Art Competition in 2020, local young artist Della Cowper-Gray — then a pupil at Scoil Bhride in Kilcullen, now in CPC — was one of four Kildare child artists to win an award, for her portrait 'The Mighty Finn'. Last year she won Zurich Young Portrait Prize at the National Gallery of Ireland. Her portrait Painting in a different world now (My father The Artist).
Della's younger sister Mae is also an accomplished artist, and her portrait of her best friend, Ella Browne, with the title Missing Ella (Loneliness during Lockdown), won her a national category first prize in the 2021 Texaco Children’s Art Competition.
The closing date for 2022 entries is Monday, 28th February. Judging will take place in April with winners to be announced in May. Details are available at texacochildrensart.com or at Texaco service stations throughout the county.
