Kildare senator raises quit notices concerns
An 'extraordinary' number of notices to quit are being received by rental housing tenants in Kildare South since the beginning of the year, according to Senator Mark Wall, writes Brian Byrne.
Speaking in the Seanad yesterday, the Labour senator said he had been notified of more than 20 such instances in the first two weeks of January, 'many, many multiples' of the usual one or two a fortnight. "I’m not sure what is behind this other than the usual selling the house etc," he told the Seanad members, "but it is creating a crisis that is very worrying in Kildare South and we need to seek urgent solutions. In my long time dealing with housing queries, I have never seen so many notices and there is simply no supply currently in South Kildare."
Afterwards, Senator Wall said there needs to be an urgent review of vacant properties, how long they are taking to turn around, and what is happening in the rental market in Kildare South.
