The Santa Truck operated by Judge Haulage every year will go through Kilcullen on Saturday next, 11 December, this year raising funds for the LauraLynn children's hospice care charity, writes Brian Byrne.
The giant American Peterbilt truck makes a number of weekend runs through County Kildare from its base in Allenwood each Christmas, bringing delight and fascination to young and old as it passes by, its deep klaxon horn notes and colourful Santa decoration gathering wide attention.
A number of local Kilcullen community groups have already agreed to donate to the Santa Truck's LauraLynn charity effort. Donations to cause can only be made through this iDonate link here.
"The Santa Truck is a non profit organisation and we do this to give the people in Kildare and surrounding areas a bit of joy, a boost, a bit of Christmas cheer that we all need in these very challenging times with Covid," the Judge family says. "Any donation regardless of how big or how small means a lot to this charity. So we would appreciate that if you can at all to donate through this link. We will not be taking cash or doing any sponsorship cards, so iDonate is the only way to do so."
The time of the truck's arrival in Kilcullen will be posted earlier on the day. On this run it will be taking in Prosperous, Clane, O'Reilly's of Crookstown, Castledermot, Athy, Kilcullen, Naas and Sallins.
