Request for car security signage at graveyard

A request that Kildare County Council instal signage at New Abbey Graveyard reminding visitors not to leave personal belongings on view in their cars is being made by Cllr Tracey O'Dwyer, writes Brian Byrne.

The request is by way of motion down for the next meeting of the Kildare-Newbridge MD scheduled for Wednesday 17 November.

There have been a number of criminal incidents relating to cars parked at the graveyard, the latest in September last when a mobile phone was taken. In a previous instance, a car window was smashed but nothing taken.

It is always advised that people visiting the cemetery should make sure their cars are locked and that no personal belongings should be left in them.

Any suspicious activity in the region of the graveyard and St Brigid's Cemetery should be reported to the Garda at Kilcullen, phone 045 481212.
