'Home Rescue' tackles Celine's Rose Cottage in Kilcullen

The life of a builder can bring you to some strange places, and for RTE's Home Rescue new season that opened with Peter Finn delving into a chicken coop and a terrapin's tank lair, writes Brian Byrne. It was all in aid of making Celine Garvey's Rose Cottage outside Kilcullen a more liveable space.

The episode screened during the week and if you missed it, you can catch it on the RTE Player here. Celine, the manager at the Moat Theatre in Naas, lives at Rose Cottage with her eight-year-old daughter Elanor, three chickens, two cats and the terrapin, Terry the Terrible.

Róisín Murphy, designer in the series, worked with builder Peter to turn the cottage into something closer to the dream home Celine's father Noel wanted it to be before a diagnosis of Motor Neurone Disease ended his own work at renovating it.

Some clips from the programme show something of the hilarity, and the scares, that ensued.
